Silvio Barbero

Silvio Barbero was National Secretary of Slow Food Italy. Born in Bra in 1952, he was with Carlo Petrini among the founders of Arcigola in 1985 and subsequently of the Slow Food movement in 1990.

From the foundation of the association to today he has always had responsibility for the organization and development of the association’s presence in Italy. In 1990 he became President of the company which, on behalf of Slow Food, organizes major events including the Salone del Gusto and Cheese.

From 2010 to 2014 he was Vice President of Slow Food Italy. He was also a member of the Board of Governors of the international Slow Food movement.

He collaborates with the Slow Food publishing house regarding the drafting of food and wine tourist guides published in Italy. It deals with all the initiatives dedicated to food education and the food/health relationship of Slow Food and the University of Gastronomic Sciences carried out in schools and hospitals.

In 2010 he joined the Board of Directors of the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Since 2012 he has been Vice President of the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo and takes care in particular of external relations and applied research activities.

He is president of the scientific committee of the ITS Agroalimentare del Piedmont Foundation and of the scientific committee of the Filiera Futura Association.
