Matteo Ascheri
Matteo Ascheri is a wine entrepreneur and President of the Consortium for the Protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani. Born in 1962, he has a degree in Economics and Commerce. Since 1988, when he took over his father Giacomo’s legacy, he has been at the head of the family company Cantine Ascheri Giacomo sas.
Since 2018 he has led a Consortium with over 500 associated wineries representing 10 thousand hectares of vineyards in Langa and Roero and over 60 million bottles.
Ascheri was also vice-president of the Consortium from 1992 to 1994 and in the past he held numerous institutional positions: president of the board of directors and then sole director of the Piedmont Wine Research Center, from 1993 to 1999; president of the Board of Directors of the Albesi Wine Producers Union from 1991 to 1997; vice-president of the Barolo & Barbaresco Consortium and of Alba wines from 1992 to 1994; vice-president of the Alba – Bra Langhe and Roero Tourism Board from 2002 to 2005.
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourist Consortium.
