Acqua Eva: history of a natural revolution from Europe’s highest spring

In the mountains of the province of Cuneo, there is a company that in just a few years has managed to distinguish itself for quality and innovation. Today we tell you the business story of Acqua Eva, born in the spring of 2001 from the dream of a group of local entrepreneurs to bottle natural mineral water captured from high altitude springs, located in uncontaminated alpine areas, in the Monviso district in an area declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

Innovation and sustainability: from the regeneration of an old silk mill comes the first factory

The first step that begins the story is in February 2010 with the start of work at the Paesana factory, where the first plant takes shape from the recovery of an old silk factory surrounded by greenery, the Bonnet silk factory. From the valorisation of resources already present in the area and reigniting an engine that had been inactive since 1998, without altering the environment and landscape. On 23 July 2010, the first bottle of Acqua Eva was bottled in a highly technological and environmentally sustainable plant.

In this valley, at an altitude of 2042 metres, Acqua Eva springs from an uncontaminated and protected alpine aquifer. The bottling process makes it possible to have a minimally mineralised water that stands out for its lightness and very low mineral salt content, making it one of the least sodium-containing waters in the world and, above all, whose characteristics remain unchanged from source to table.

The characteristics that distinguish Acqua Eva make it a mineral water suitable for all ages and diets. On the one hand, in fact, it is also suitable for the preparation of baby food, and on the other hand, it helps prevent fatigue of the organism and kidneys by promoting diuresis.

Ecological commitment and technological innovations

Business choices can make a difference for the future if one chooses to follow paths that reconcile market and environmental needs. Fonti Alta Valle Po S.p.A. has always shown a strong commitment to sustainability: in 2018, the company built a new automated warehouse, while in 2019 it introduced an R-Pet bottle, promoting the recycling of plastics.

Despite the challenges of 2020, the company installed a new bottling line to optimise production and respond to growing market demand by adding new formats.

In 2023, a further technologically advanced line was introduced to improve the bottling process, both in terms of speed and energy efficiency.

Renewable energy and energy saving

All the electricity purchased to bottle Acqua Eva comes from renewable sources. Most of the necessary energy is self-produced within the plant, thanks to a photovoltaic system and a regeneration system, which transforms methane gas first into electricity, then into hot water and finally into cold water: each element has its function within the bottling cycle.

Certifications and quality standards

Since 2020, all aspects of Fonti Alta Valle Po S.p.A.’s environmental management system have been certified according to the ISO 14001 standard, attesting to the company’s high quality and ecological commitment.

Acqua Eva is not just a mineral water, but a symbol of purity and sustainability, a true Alpine treasure that arrives on Italian tables every day.
